Volunteer Board & Commission Application City of Lavon, Texas

THERE are currently four boards and commissions that are in need of citizen participation. Here is a brief description of each;

PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION - consists of 5 members, whose duties consist of; Reviewing and Recommending subdivision plats Preparing a comprehensive plan for the growth, development and beatification of the city Recommended zoning and re-zoning Reviewing ordinances that pertain to zoning Recommending variances Conducting research and analysis of matters affecting the development of the City TAX INCREMENT FINANCING (TIF) BOARD - Consists of 5 members. The creation of the TIF board was part of the original agreement between the City and the developer of Grand Heritage. The idea is that as property values increase within the TIF because of development, the City can use a poration of those increases to reimburse the developer for the costs of certain public infrastructures or can pay for additional public improvements within the boundaries of the TIF. The TIF board is responsible for the administration of the Project and Financing Plan and all projects undertaken by the TF and paid for from the TIF Fund. LAVON ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION consists of 7 members whose primary responsibility is the promotion of economic development including development of commercial, industrial and manufacturing enterprises, and to promote employment and public welfare in the City.
